Sponsor a Child
There are currently over 300 children in need of sponsor- ship. For just $25 per month, you can sponsor a child in the Hope for the Hopeless Program. Your sponsorship provides the child with food, clothing and other basic necessities, education and medical care. Your sponsorship of a child also helps to support the family and community in which the child lives. For less than $1 a day, you can literally change the life of a child. You will receive a picture and profile information for your sponsored child. Updates are provided and you can correspond with your child periodically.
Supportive Funds Donation
Additional supportive funds are urgently needed due to the ongoing global food crisis and uncontrolled inflation in Ethiopia. Your one time gift or ongoing monthly gift will help to supplement the operating expenses in Ethiopia. The skyrocketing food costs have forced a reduction in the amount and quality of the food that the children are receiving. The most recent medical exam revealed weight-loss in nearly every child over a period of three months. These supportive funds in addition to the sponsorship funds will ensure that the children are receiving adequate amounts of food. These funds will also be used to support the growth of the program and to provide the supplies necessary to care for additional children.
Construction Fund
The construction plans to finish phase 1 (dorms, kitchen and dining hall) and begin phase 2 (school and office) are completely dependent upon funding. Once the necessary funds can be raised, construction can begin. Commencement of the construction also provides local laborers with employment and supports development of the surrounding community. Completion of the school will allow hundreds of children in the area to receive quality education.
Transportation Fund
The cost of hiring transportation for the children and staff to commute to and from school and between facilities places a huge stress on the budgetary confines of the program. Purchase of a large vehicle will allow a greater percentage of the monthly budget to go toward meeting the nutritional needs of the children. The vehicle could also be used for hire while the children are in school in order to provide an additional source of self-generated income for the program.
Donated Items
We gladly accept donated items that can be transported to Ethiopia with one of our upcoming travel groups. Drop-off locations are conveniently located in various areas around Phoenix. The following is a list of the items we are currently in need of:
- Children’s chewable vitamins
- Adult multi-vitamins
- Children’s clothing for boys and girls ages 6-17 (no shorts please)
- Shoes for ages 6-17
- Socks and underwear
- Boys athletic clothing
- Educational supplies (computers, CD’s for ESL, books in English)
- Entertainment supplies (paper, board games, balls of all kinds, puzzles, art supplies)
